A permanent link to an item (a blog post, an attachment, ...). The default structure is "?p=123", but WordPress can handle "pretty permalinks" and will rewrite them internally to the former version. If you have a question about special rewrite structures you should use the [url-rewriting] tag.

where can i see wordpress automatic redirect History
WordPress Redirecting all the permalink changes automatically.
for example if i change my post permalinks from :
site.com/%postname%
to
site.com/%post_id%/%postname%
wordpress automatically redirects all … the old permalinks to new form .
now i have this question , where this redirects are stored ? …
