I have the cPanel access to a website but no wordpress login info. So I wants to change a widget content in the website.

How can I change it through phpmyadmin. Where are that widgets sidebar data actually stored? Is it inside wp-options table?

Widget options are stored in the options table under 'sidebars_widgets' as a serialized array. See this post for a longer explanation.

Changing the field per PHPMyAdmin is not recommended, use PHP, get_option() and update_option() instead, WordPress will take care for correct serialization then.

  • Impressive! I don't know how to update the values using that function. Anyway I solved my problem by creating another user through phpmyadmin. Thank You. – Libin Jul 11 '12 at 6:51

I came to know that WordPress is storing the widget contents as serialized array!

So instead of directly editing via phpmyadmin, I had created a new admin user through phpmyadmin using this awesome tutorial: How to Add an Admin User to the Wordpress Database

Then I logged in to the dashboard and made changes to the widgets! Hope this will help someone else.

  • The question is: "Where is the content of widgets stored in mysql table". This reply is not an answer to the question. – WendiT Apr 14 at 1:48
