I have a simple Wordpress site. Unknown query string is appended to few requests by Bing and Google bots daily. In site's Apache access log, there are few entries every day like below:

My site's blog listing actual page URL is /blog/page/PAGE_NUMBER/. I am new to WordPress and Apache. Why or what are those query strings being appended automatically? Not sure whether it is a remote code execution attack sort of thing? SEO could get affected due to this i suspect. Can anyone please assist me on how to proceed with this issue.

WordPress version is 5.4.2. Apache version is 2.4 PHP version is 7.3

  • I posted the question as a guest user as i am new here. Could not reply to your comment directly as it's only allowed for users with 50 reps, so replying here. Actually my site blogs are located in MYSITE_DOMAIN/blog/ distributed across hundreds of pages with 9 posts per page. So url is like MYSITE_DOMAIN/blog/page/2/ (3,4,5....),etc. But bots are crawling this URL MYSITE_DOMAIN/page/2/ (3,4,5....),etc with new query strings attached to it like m=member&c=index&a=register&siteid=1. Since actual url and crawled url are different, it may cause duplicate content issue in SEO. **But my concern – User234334 Jul 7 '20 at 9:08
