I'm trying to add a google maps "Places Search" functionality between the header and footer of my WordPress website. I'm using a theme that provides a custom header and footer.

The google maps functionality was taken from here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/places-searchbox Essentially, I want the functionality shown here with wordpress template. I have tested that my API Key is working and I have tried appending the header (get_header()) and footer (get_footer()) around the code but I'm getting only a working search box with no map:Example Showing This

I've having a difficult time trying to pin down what exactly it is that I'm doing wrong, but I may believe it has something to do with the CSS and HTML formatting of the pages conflicting. If anyone has any solutions/tips that could help me, I would appreciate it greatly.
