I'm trying to develop a plugin to override any translation from any plugin directly from wp-admin.

In order to do this, I need to get the strings from any given plugin, and also the translations (in the current language) for said strings.

I've been searching far and wide for a magic function that will help me, but I think there is none and I will have to parse the MO/PO files.

I know there is a MO class and also a PO class but I don't know how to use them or even if they can accomplish what I need, and there seems to be no documentation about them.

Before I delve into the uncharted regions of WordPress code, anyone has an idea or a clue that can help me avoid it?

Thanks!!!

Typically you need to use something like POEdit to extract the strings. There's a plugin out there Say What that does something similar. They charge for the "pro" version that does the string extraction, otherwise you just have to know what strings you want to change and manually enter them. – Milo Jan 8 at 18:15
