I'm a beginner to Wordpress in general, and i'm practicing on local. So far i simply installed WAMP and put my blank site on it. I want now to pick my theme and start tweaking it a little.

I looked up how to create a child theme, but it's not working for me, it doesn't appear on the menu, i can't choose it.

It only appears when I put the index.php file of the original theme in the child theme's folder, but if i pick it I get error messages.

I can't find anything specific to my issue, the code seems ok to me.

Theme Name:      CleanPortfolio Child Theme
Theme URI:       http://example.com
Description:     child Theme cleanportfolio
Author:          BigBoy
Author URI:      http://example.com
Template:        cleanportfolio
Version:         1.0.0
Text Domain:     cleanportfolio-child
-------------------------------------------------------------- */

     add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'my_theme_enqueue_styles' );
     function my_theme_enqueue_styles() {
          wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );

thanks in advance

  • Are you certain that cleanportfolio is the correct folder name of the parent theme? Is that theme installed? – Jacob Peattie Dec 27 '18 at 1:57
