I am working on a website (built on wordpress) in which I want to replace some plugins. The name of the plugin which I want to replace is Accordion Shortcodes. I am wondering what best practice I need to follow in order to replace a plugin in word-press.

From the tutorial as mentioned here, accordion Shortcodes is a simple plugin that adds a few shortcodes for adding accordion drop-downs to your pages.

The accordions should blend seamlessly with your theme. However, you may want to edit your theme’s main stylesheet in order to add some custom styling (see below for sample CSS).

Problem Statement:

I am wondering which website I need to look and what best practice I need to follow in order to replace a plugin in wordpress. Also, which plugin would be the best replacement for accordion shortcodes ?

  • Dude. It's just a plugin. Disable it and that's it. There might be issues that appear if you disable it from your theme but if a plugin is coded well, it won't break anything. – coolpasta Dec 4 at 4:08
  • @coolpasta I know how to disable the plugin. I am asking what is the best practice and which tutorial I need to look in order to replace a plugin in wordpress. Do you have any suggestions which plugin would be the best replacement for Accordion shortcodes ? – john Dec 5 at 17:52
  • It's just too big of a question to answer, really. Most plugins, even if they do their marketing right are pieces of crap. Even the most popular ones. Straight up trash. BUT I assume you're looking for features. Not sure what to give you for that specific field but, I mean...just search in the WP directory? Google up? See what features each vendor offers, etc. – coolpasta Dec 6 at 1:19
  • @coolpasta I came up with the idea of wordpress.org/plugins/accordions plugin. Let me know your thoughts. – john Dec 8 at 22:21
