Until now I was using a local WordPress project and I was able to define the xDebugger in the php.ini file, it's very useful and helpful.

But now I'm connected to a remote server and I only have the theme directory, also I don't think I have access to the php.ini file.

Does anyone know how can I access this file? If it is not possible, how can I debug my remote project with xDebug?

I have searched for a tutorial/explanation for a very long time.

Any help will be appreciated! Thank you in advance.

PS: I use PhpStorm 8.0.3

Run phpinfo();. If you don't see xDebug enabled then you will need access to PHP.ini to enable it. Also may have to install it on the server through the package manager or pear. Ask your server administrator / hosting provider about enabling it.
