I was experimenting and tried creating a page template from the page editor by clicking the button below.

I no longer want that template there, as I'm just going to do it the old-fashioned way and manually create a template to upload to my FTP instead.

I cannot figure out how to remove the template from this drop down menu below.

As you can see, there is no template in my site files (child theme), so I have no idea where this lives or how to remove it.

Go to Appearance > Editor in the Dashboard menu, then in the sidebar select Templates > your template and you can delete it from the triple dot menu.

The Delete Template option

  • If you don't have that option, your current theme doesn't support the Site Editor. You can pretend your theme supports it by adding two files to the theme: 1. A block Index template, meaning a templates/index.html file (can be empty) 2. A valid theme.json file, meaning it contains: { "version": 2 }. Ref: wpdevelopment.courses/articles/… Then "Editor" appears under the Appearance menu (and "Theme File Editor" disappears), and you can go in and delete the template you made. Remove those files to bring back "Theme File Editor".
