Nov 4, 2011 at 19:49 comment added unfulvio there are a few ways - simplest is to open the post type (add new/edit existing), click on "screen options" on the top right part of the screen, then make sure "custom fields" is checked. Now you can create custom fields and assign values to them. As you will notice this is not too elegant and it could be also confusing. You could then create very sophisticated meta boxes within your functions.php codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_meta_box or use some plugin to do the job - I like Advanced Custom Fields personally wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-custom-fields
