Oh I think I see what's happening. It's because you are returning $classes within the if statement. Simply moving return $classes outside and after that if seems to solve the above error.

This gave me the following error: Warning: join() [function.join]: Invalid arguments passed in /home/path/to/wp-includes/nav-menu-template.php on line 76 Any idea what happened here?
