On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

I am an active participant here and I feel I can help lighten the load off the other moderators as they have been requesting lately. I am always in the StopPress chat room here, I leave both WPSE and StopPress windows open at all times.

I have plenty of time on my hands and I love working with WordPress. I plan on staying around here, I enjoy being a part of this community and it has helped me out tremendously, so I would love to give back to the community if you would give me a chance. :)

I wouldn't consider myself an expert WP programmer, but I can usually tell the difference between what is in the WPSE scope and what is not, and if I don't, I usually ask for others' opinions in StopPress first.

Hi Everyone!

Below are a few points of context about me for those who don't know me:

  • My life as a web dev began by hacking WP themes and plugins ten years ago. It began as a hobby, and has now become my full-time career.
  • I enjoy helping others with simple questions because many of the pros on this site helped me when I had simple questions.
  • My schedule is flexible which allows me to keep an eye on the WPSE community throughout the day.
  • I've had a range of experience with all types of WP sites that generate hundreds to millions of uniques per month.
  • I heart clean code.
  • I enjoy helping others, who have difficulty with English, communicate clearly in their questions with proper grammar, spelling, etc...
  • I'm not the absolute expert on WordPress, but I am committed to learning something new every day.
  • I enjoy creating tools to aid others in their WPSE workflow. Please check out this discussion on Meta.

It would be an honor to serve the community as a moderator. I would not take it lightly.

Last year i was a candidate in the moderators election but didn't make the cut and i feel that i had the time and experience to show you guys Who I AM.

If You don't know me (then you must not be an active member here :) ) anyway I'm Bainternet (Ohad Raz), an hyperactive WordPress Answers member.

WP experience: over 6 years of developing Websites and web applications with WP, I develop Themes, I develop and publish GPL plugins, keep a blog where i post articles and tutorials for working with WP and Consult Companies and private clients about WP.

WPSE experience, (at the time of writing this) Member for over a year, 1,084 Answers, 24,528 Reputation, 389 Tags, 35 Badges (that's all you guys, not me).

I'd love to be a moderator to contribute even more to this community, Because and I'll quote my last year peach:

i really see WordPress Answers becoming the best resource site for WordPress developers online (if not already).

I'll sign off by saying good luck to everyone.

Hello all,

Let me introduce myself to those that don't know me; my name is Scott and I have been a member here since 12th April 2011. I'm a very active member here and I have visited WordPress Answers every day since I joined minus 5 days. I spend most of my time here in WordPress Answers chat room StopPress. WordPress answers has become like a second home to me and has become my one stop place to visit if I have a WordPress related issue.

So why do I want to become a moderator and why should you elect me? Quite simply because I want to give more back to the community. This community of people has helped me so much more than I have them. I'll be the first to admit that I'm no WordPress know it all and I don't know the answer to all your WordPress related questions. There are many members here that answer so much better than I can ever do. What I can do here is use my time to help moderate this site and help with the day to day running of WordPress Answers.

Please elect me and let me show you how much more of an asset I can be to WordPress Answers.

Thanks for reading.

Scott

Let’s keep the race interesting. I am a member here since 18 months ago; before that I was also quite active on Stack Overflow.

I've hesitated with the candidacy … because my English is sometimes not good enough just to say, what I want to say. On the other hand: That is what makes me extra patient towards other non-native speakers.

During the recent weeks I visited the review-tab almost daily. I want to make new members come back: welcome them with patience, try show how our community works and help to ask better questions. So, I see myself rather as an inclusionist.
As a moderator, I would do the same.

This election is over.
