Crossposting from WP to Blogger with comments problem is the site that they running is pretty high traffic. Right now with all the optimizations installed it get's a dedicated server to load avg of 1-2 with peaks at 4-6(for dual core that's ok I guess). So having a failover will require similar box which is somewhat costly for their budget. But you're right anyway, your answer will help me to talk to them further and confirm that I am not crazy/lazy/not-experienced-enough :) we'll see how it goes. Thanks! |

Crossposting from WP to Blogger with comments @MikeSchinkel Good point! My client is trying to have a cheap failover mechanism, in case WP blog fails for a fast switchover to Blogger... :( |

Database synchronization between dev/staging and production Good point! However if production has some changes in purely content area(posts, comments) and dev has changes in say settings and setup(for instance added 5 plugins and tweaked their settings) how would you carry over those settings changes without really doing work twice(one time on dev and one on production)? |
