Yes, you are right and I know this. But I think Tom misunderstood as my problem comes when I create exact copies or my about page for another page (and change everything accordingly), and that doesn't show nothing but the content of index.php.

Oh, OK, you are right, but I am not trying to achieve that at all. The page created using Pages section is just a landing page for a particular Custom Post Type where I was thinking to get links to the taxonomy created under that specific custom post type. Am I making any sense? Once the login lands on the landing page, he is taken to "singles" and browse between them. Or he is taken to a taxonomy page where I have posts or pages inside.. I think I am going to drop the idea as you guys seem to be so against it, I am a bit frustrated as I've seen people doing it and spent a day already on this.

Hang on a second, the pages are created from Pages, not from the Custom post type menu. Like anyone would create a normal page, assign a template for it. And removing entirely the custom post types functions/code doesn't help either.

What do you mean @Chip Bennett? I think I've seen so many people/posts around here having a static page for a custom post type, am I wrong? Why would this not work? Is working for me for the other page, I am getting really confused now.

Renaming the page doesn't change a thing, as it can have any name as long as the chosen template is pointing to that page, am I wrong? I've done it anyway and this didn't change a thing. I have also reformatted the Template Name at the top without any changes.

Thank you for advices guys. OK, I understand, but I will have 4 pages, every single page will have 3-8 subpages and 2 of these subpages will have posts. Am I still not right thinking of making custom post types for the major sections I will have as is it going to be a lot easier adding pages to the right section?

As it will have several pages underneath which are going to be listed as a menu on the left side while in the About section, and I have chosen to use post types so I will have them nicely separated on the left side rather than having to simply create pages and assign then to a category.

comment Structure of custom post type / taxonomy?
Thank you @David Gard. But how would I display the titles of the taxonomy pages on my sidebar and their corresponding pages edited in the admin? I have page-xxx for all the custom post types I've created. The above code doesn't work for me.

Yes, but same result. No worries at all, thank you very much anyway for your time, I do appreciate it. I've learned something new today :).

Erm, all what you have said makes sense to me, it's obvious and I understand. But, I have updated the function, added the nonce and permissions checks, updated the whitelist, and the result is the same. I am also thinking this way: it was working on dev.domain.com, using db hhh. After I've copied the exact files (tar.gz, server side) to the root, have updated permalinks and values in db regards the URL, I wasn't able to pick the values from metaboxes anymore. Couldn't be this something else? Or should I get the values differently in my etc-page.php? But it doesn't even show them back in admin.

Is not showing up on refresh and that's why I've assumed that and then, after Stephen's help I've realised the data doesn't get saved.. then, I get the values in meta.php directly: <input type="text" name="_my_meta[title]" value="<?php if(!empty($meta['title'])) echo $meta['title']; ?>"/>, do I have to define $meta in meta.php?

I don't know if it helps, but I have no values in the database with "test1", the string I have used for the latest test.

But if I go back and edit them again, I still get current data: string(0), and that would usually mean that the values are not actually saving, right? I will go and check the database, do a Search for one value..

Everything looks fine, right?! I've updated all the fields I have: current data: string(0) "" sent data: array(12) { ["title"]=> string(4) "test" ["body-text"]=> string(4) "test" ["link"]=> string(4) "test" ["img01-title"]=> string(4) "test" ["img01-url"]=> string(4) "test" ["img01-link"]=> string(4) "test" ["title-2nd"]=> string(4) "test" ["body-text-2nd"]=> string(4) "test" ["link-2nd"]=> string(4) "test" ["img02-title"]=> string(4) "test" ["img02-url"]=> string(4) "test" ["img02-link"]=> string(4) "test" } success:

Thank you for all your help. I've removed the concatenator from var_dumps after </pre> for both lines, and then I got this: string(11) "" string(16) "Array"success:. Now, what does it mean? That I have double quotes for the data inside and are not closed, and also on the link one.. that must be, my head is spinning now lol, I am starting to understand it, almost.

Yes @StephenHarris, it doesn't cause issues as it loads, otherwise my php file wouldn't show up in the admin section, right? As for the error, this is the first time I am using wp_die() and wp_die('message') will show me "message" as expected. This line instead: wp_die( '<pre>' . var_export( $post, true ) . '</pre>' ); will show me NULL, if placed before function or in the beggining, but after return, it shows nothing.
