comment Modify WP Query post__in before have_posts()
This was more the route I went - was able to hook into the standard have_posts() and simply passed along the matched locations to the post__in param in pre_get_posts(). Thanks!

comment Modify WP Query post__in before have_posts()
The URL query string looks like this: ?finder_zipcode=19103&finder_distance=10&finder_action=search So I am then taking finder_zipcode and finder_distance, plugging them into a function that calculates the valid zip codes/locations and returns the locations (with matching zip codes that match).

Hey s_ha_dum thanks for the response. Commented on the original question which hopfully gives a little more clarity (includes an article link that explains how the $locations are returned as well). Thanks!

comment Modify WP Query post__in before have_posts()
@StephenHarris To sum up (hopefully), I'm grabbing all of the locations from an external database table - referencing this article so this calculation done on the fly, based on the zip code entered - so nothing I can store in postmeta (the distance between), I can only store each individual zip code for the location and then run it through the math to get the returned list

comment Using has_tag() outside loop
It runs through each available tag for the post, so if mario is available, then it would print yup in addition to nope if any others available in the post do not match. So - if you don't want anything to print on tags that don't match mario, then just take out the else statement (revised above)

comment Loop posts without any taxonomy
What is page_group? Not seeing that as an available option in WP Query. get_terms() can retrieve the taxonomy by using $page_group->taxonomy which you could set in WP_Query

Yup, a valid but bad example in the Codex (there's a little warning message above, but the entire example should be replaced).

Have you also considered using fall-back images in your template if none is supplied? There was a similar question/answer posted here

Unrelated to your question, but don't load jQuery like that (please). Use a plugin like Use Google Libraries or WP jQuery Plus that keep up with the core WP version as well instead of keeping tabs on this yourself.

comment comment_post_ID 0 (cannot remove from dashboard)
Hi all - appreciate the continued interest in this one. A few responses: No plugins that hook into either comment_id_not_found or comment_save_pre (did have a plugin called Easy Comment Uploads previously, but is unpublished and can't find original files - now using Comment Images). The access logs have yet to reveal any matches for these IP addresses (which also don't match), but searches confirm they are spam (if that wasn't obvious already ha).

Nope - authors, IPs agents, etc. all different from the four I'm seeing. Unless I want cheap timberlands or home-made bags, I'm still stumped ;)
