I code mainly in PHP and JavaScript/jQuery to develop WordPress themes and Plugins at PressCoders.com. I am also (timer permitting!) looking into iOS programming on the iPhone/iPad.

comment Adding a checkbox to the theme customizer
My issue was resolved when I made sure the ID used in $wp_customize->add_control() was unique.

comment Accessing theme customizer farbtastic object instances
It's not really to do with how I specifically set up the color pickers. If you activate the Twenty Eleven theme and take a look at the theme customizer you'll see a color picker for the page background color. I just need to be able to find the object handle for this so in Chrome developer tools (for example) I could just enter something like instancename.setColor('#ccc'); to programatically set the color.

comment Default scripts added to each admin page
I'm already outputting the global $wp_scripts earlier than shutdown to inspect the libraries being added (as well as inspecting the source). I just wanted to find out what scripts were being enqueued in the core, and where. This is actually being done by dependencies in most cases rather than direct enqueues.

Yeah, I've looked through that core file. It seems to setup all the default scripts and handles into one class instance. Each admin page has a different subset of these jQuery UI loaded, so I'm looking for where these are actually set for each admin page.

The shutdown hook runs after everything has finished loading so is a good place to stop the timer.

comment Using tabs in admin widgets
Doing a var dump on the whole object the $this->widget_id variable doesn't appear to exist. Using uniqid() is an interesting idea but also doesn't work; the tabs are still not initialized until you manually save the widget. What I really don't get though is that if you examine the admin ajax requests, there IS a 'save widget' ajax function that executes when you first drag in the widget. BUT, it is only when you manually click to save the widget, and this 'save widget' function fires again, that it works properly! Weird.

Yes, forgot that you need to account for multiple instances of the same widget, duh! I am using $this->id but it only works, as you point out, once the widget has been saved manually. In WP 3.3 the situation (I think?) has been improved slightly as the widget instance id number seems to be there as soon as you drag in a new widget (when inspected with firebug), but it is not available via $this->id.
