comment Hide Parent if No Children
Your code outputs the "Pages" caption and creates an irregular list.

For me, this hid the entire list.

comment Insert <ul> Into Sub-child Menu
The code in my original question outputs child categories for the parent category only, these categories are displayed on both the categories page and the single post. The code you provided outputs the parent categories AND child categories. It also outputs it too many times when in a child category. It just isn't working.

comment Insert <ul> Into Sub-child Menu
The new code doesn't have the functionality of the original - it doesn't work.

For some reason this is still returning the black <ul> box, any ideas? themeforward.com/demo2

Hey Michael, out of curiosity - do you think one of these answers is superior to the other?

That didn't work, unfortunately. :-(

Right, but that doesn't really address how to do it - any link you could provide that may be a bit more detailed?

Exactly, but your description just makes it all too easy :-P

comment Building a Sub-menu: Display Parent Category/Page's Children When Viewing Children
Thanks for the solution, I found a code which is a bit more nimble but requires some further changes which I'm going to post about - but your solution is also very helpful.

comment Building a Sub-menu: Display Parent Category/Page's Children When Viewing Children
It is fairly well-explained in my original question. I simply want to output the child categories of the current category including while I'm on a post within that category and sub-categories. I'd also like a class to be added to the current sub-category.

comment Building a Sub-menu: Display Parent Category/Page's Children When Viewing Children
Thank you, this code works for pages - but I'm also looking for a code that produces the same results for categories, including when a user is in the sub-category and viewing a post.

comment Restrict query_posts by Date?
I never claimed it made it more important, I was simply highlighting what the actual question was. But I'll change it so it doesn't bother you so much. Also - I thought this site's policy was only constructive answers? Telling me not to use bold and not providing a workable answer isn't exactly constructive.

comment Gallery Only Displaying One Thumbnail
I removed the post views codes (including in functions.php) and created a new gallery. Same result: themeforward.com/demo2/2013/03/18/2253
