comment What are WooCommerce starter themes?
After doing a lot of research I ended up using Shopify instead. While it has a monthly fee I don't have to worry about paying for web hosting, thwarting hackers, or paying for yearly licenses for WooCommerce upgrades.

just got back to take a look at this question again and I see you've finished your plugin. Thanks! Only thing I'd love to see is some screenshots on the plugin page :)

comment Plugin or method to delete uploads not in media library?
Might also be cool to "move" the files to another directory and then move them back as they are requested (i.e. the 404 trigger)

@cale_b - I'm sure there are in fact several ways to do this without editing the footer.

comment How can I set up a category “overview” page?
@JonathanWold basically if you visit http://yoursite.com/category/, and replace yoursite.com with a wordpress site, but don't replace /category/ with anything else, you will get a 404 page. This is the url I would like to be able to hook into and do something such a list all of the categories.

looks like anything else is too complicated so even though I mentioned I did not want to create a page called "category" this is probably the best way

What happens when you visit your wordpress site /category/ ? I'm assuming you will get a not found page.

comment How can I allow commas in tag names?
+1 - In my original post I did mention that hacking the core was acceptable in this case. I couldn't even find where I needed to hack the core to make this work. At least if I know this is possible I can work to develop a plugin or submit a proper ticket request asking for a hook or filter from the WP community. So, thank you @AsafChertkoff, even though I haven't tested this myself yet.

comment remove and disable image link in functions.php
perhaps if you spent a little time better explaining the desired behavior people could give you better answers to your question.

@Jared - it's OK to modify the core - as long as you submit your issue / patch to core.trac.wordpress.org and are OK with maintaining the patch on your installation until it (hopefully) gets pulled into the core ;)

@kaiser - got it working with the answer from @ungestaltbar, but wanted to confirm that i do in fact need to echo and not return as you suggested.

@kaiser - you're probably right - might be good to return that instead of echoing it, but it still is not working. also i tried adding die() to the top of the color_scheme() function but the page still renders fine - footer and all - so for some reason that function is not even getting called
