I'm a heavily tattoo'd freelance web monkey in Tampa. I survive on caffeine, fast guitar music, whatever food is available while the rednecks are sleeping, and the cubic yards of money I makes being awesome. I haven't slept since Camel Lights were still four bucks a pack.

that's beyond what I've set up. if you aren't capable of doing it, u suggest hiring someone who is.

the URL field is going to add that HTTP into it regardless, so setting your own field is the way to go. The code below will add a custom field to the user profile. How / where do you need it displayed? function ath_cleanup_profile_fields( $contactmethods ) { $contactmethods['my_new_profile_field'] = 'My New Profile Field Name; return $contactmethods; } add_filter('user_contactmethods','ath_cleanup_profile_fields',10,1);

editing core is never the answer, since it'll be wiped out on updates. what exactly are you trying to accomplish, from start to finish? I can probably give you better advice if I know the goal.

that goes in your themes functions file. you grab it using the_author_meta function

comment On new server, site got hacked, permissions a bit strange? Please help
well, things like the permalinks aren't editing WP files, rather, they write to the .htaccess file. Most of the other pages are saving settings to the database, not actually editing any files directly.

It might be worth signing up and having them do a deep scan to look for suspect files that could pose a problem later on.

comment Adding jquery and thickbox to WordPress theme
If you're loading multiple, or using conditionals (i.e. only load script X on single posts and script Y on the home page) than an init is a better bet. But either way you should be fine.

are you storing the custom field as an actual attachment or just the URL as a text field?
