I probably wasn't clear enough .. the second call to wp_hook looked like this: <?php wp_head(); //we need this for plugins ?>. I'll try removing and see if this breaks anything.

After checking, it seems that the Analyticator adds to to the wp_head hook - which is called twice in my template (once with the comment "we need this for plugins"). Can I just remove the first (or second) call?

I'm not sure where the plugin "calls" google, but I'll check. Also, how can I figure out if the header or footer is loaded twice?

I'm sorry - my problem here is that I can't find the right question to ask. I edited my question, hopefully making the purpose a bit clearer.

comment How do I custom code the start page?
The "frontpage" is just a first step. Basically I'd like to have a simple web app (custom search and results pages) inside my WordPress site ("normal" posts). Hope this helps ...

Thanks for the suggestion with the plugins, that helped me to try out some more things which finally lead to the solution of my problem (see my own answer).

This didn't change anything. (And I wouldn't know why it should as long as wordpress was able to write the .htaccess file.)
