comment Changing permalinks and redirecting urls
This is exactly right. Redirection handles this perfectly. All I had to put in was: .*/post/\d+/(.*) > /$1 and it all forwards along exactly as expected. Thanks so much for your help with this!

Not a bad thought, but that number in the Tumblr url isn't actually the post ID. The post IDs were assigned starting from 1 when the Tumblr content was imported, so those long numbers in the url don't mean anything.

Hey! This is almost exactly what I've been looking for. With one tiny addition — is there a way to append the slug to the post name? Tumblr's urls look like example.com/593839548/post-name. Your snippet chops off the number and adds the post-name, but is there a way to append the post name after the number? Huge thanks!

ACK! That got deleted and I never noticed. Thanks so much for the help — once I had that part in there, everything worked out A-ok.

comment Getting the current post number / make posts increment
Good call. In the time it would take me to add this custom field every week or two, it would be no big deal. Good advice.

comment Extract a link in the_content()
Turns out that number '1' was a lesson in return vs echo. The 1 was being echoed, while what I wanted was to return it to hand it to another function. Thanks for the help with this one!

So close! This seems to be outputting the href with the number 1 in front of it. Like this: 1http://google.com. I can't figure out where it's coming from.

Yeah, I could/should do an of these. But I've got 500+ posts/links in my bookmark manager now from years ago.

Clever, kaiser. This sounds like a much better way to go about it. Thanks!

Btw: ` <?php var_dump($topmost_parent); ?>` returns '14' when on a child page, but returns '0' when on the parent page. Like so: cl.ly/image/1p270B032t3A

Close. It adds the class fine, but does so based on the $post->ID, instead of itself. IE: It adds the tax term associated the current post to each <li> in the output.

I'll try that now. I think that filter on 1046 only works for actual pages, not custom pages. I think

comment Querying two taxonomies
Thanks for having a look at this, Stephen. $term_id doesn't seem to be getting returned. I get nothing when I echo it in my template file. ($taxonomy echos fine, but that's probably expected.)

Thanks Michael. How would I make this generic—ie: not code 'quiz-tool' into get_content_taxonomy(). I want to use this same WP_Query for all of the pages. Ideally, get_content_taxonomy (the_current_tool_i'm_in) would limit it just to the tool I'm looking at now.
