comment Removing a post from the results of a WP Query
And how are you specifying when it might be available – custom fields?

You, sir, are an absolute god send! This may seem trivial to you but I learnt a lot from that post – a big thanks for taking the time to help with this. I'm totally comfortable with the all the wp_query parts but sorting through it is my trouble. Your solution seems to output exactly what I needed so I'll mark it as such :)

To be perfectly honest, I searched low and high and this was the only code I could find that replicated what I needed in terms of output. If I could achieve this within a neat loop that would be excellent but I'm not sure where to start. It seems most of the built in WordPress functions are geared towards outputting archives purely on their own page. I'm struggling to find a solution that allows me to pull this information through into a page template.

comment Thumbnails have stopped generating correctly
Nope, I'm totally stumped now. Just check a previous website I built and the permissions are exactly the same and it works fine under the same environment. Weird.

OK, I've narrowed it down to a permissions issue by running a local copy and giving global 777 permissions and it worked fine. Now I just need to figure out how I can grant it the correct permissions to generate thumbnails in the future on the live server.

Ah, totally missed you comment! The plugin is called Regenerate Thumbnails: wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails. No errors shown, it runs through all the images, says they were all successful with no errors but I can't even find the new images it's supposedly made.

comment Plugin permissions for Editor role
Whilst that didn't fix the problem, I did notice something potentially helpful. If the capability needed is change to something the user role can't access, the link in the admin sidebar does disappear and when I have it as something they do have rights to, it appears in the sidebar. This leads me to believe that line of the plugin in not ultimately responsible for the issue as even when it's available in the admin menu, the permission error is still given.

Again, thanks for the reply, no joy again though. Tried disabling User Role Editor and adding in the various combinations you mentioned. User Role Editor is definitely just tweaking the pre-defined Editor role. I'm not too worried about what I give access to for the Editor roles as I've removed all of menu items they don't need manually and very few people have access so I doubt anyone would try pasting in other admin pages they shouldn't go to.

Thanks for the reply. I gave that a go but no joy. I double checked and they definitely got edit_others_posts enabled.
