comment How to obfuscate theme directory URLs
Thanks @Toscho. I realize that my original question was a bit silly, considering that WordPress exposes the theme directory and URI in so many other ways. I really appreciate your link to your other post on Endpoints. Lots to learn there!

comment How to use taxonomies on attachments with the new Media Library?
Frank, don't forget that for attachment taxonomies, you should probably set update_count_callback to _update_generic_term_count. See updated Codex entry for why: codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/…

comment What is 'term_group' for 'order_by' in get_terms()?
The bottom line is... don't use it, as it's not currently supported and term aliasing is neither currently supported either, nor is it fully thought through and has a bunch of nasty pitfalls to boot. Codex updated.

comment Run an action only when Widget actually instantiated (not just registered)
@Rarst, a valid point, and one I'll be sure to keep in mind. In this particular case, I think it makes complete sense to tie the metaboxes in the Edit Post page to the presence of the Widget.

My question was very misleading in terms of what I was trying to accomplish.

comment How to obfuscate theme directory URLs
I'm sorry Toscho, I should have been more clear in my OP. Obviously I know about get_template_directory_uri() etc. But that will spit out mysite.com/wp-content/themes/mytheme which is not what I want. Maybe I need to rewrite my OP to be more clear.

comment WP_Query can't exclude more than 1 author?
I don't think this is a good solution, because it completely short-circuits all of the business logic and brains within WP_Query. You're much better using the 'posts_where' filter and appending to the existing WHERE clause (once you do the appropriate checking to be sure you're modifying only those queries you're interested in modifying). Your solution works, but is missing out on any of the "brains" that WordPress already provides. Sticking with filters is usually a much better bet.

comment WP_Query can't exclude more than 1 author?
Sadly, this will not work for a number of reasons 1. WP_Query->set() only takes 2 arguments - it will completely ignore the 3rd and 4th arguments; you probably meant $query->set( 'author', '-2, -3, -4' );, 2. however that will not work either based on a limitation on how the author query variable is currently being handled in core. comment Trying to create a table/list of my EventBrite course listings
Too bad this question was closed. I have exactly the same requirements. Arguably, this is less of a WordPress issue and more of an Eventbrite API issue.

comment Pre-install widgets in WP-Admin
@RobMyrick the best thing of course is just to move the widget out of the sidebar and into the "inactive widgets" section. That way you don't lose any of the configuration data - you just "hide" the widget from being seen.

Thanks for circling back on this, Jer. Sigh. Maybe we push for this in 3.7

Yeah, I've often wondered why they recommend hyphens instead of underscores for file names.
