comment Add post classes for custom taxonomies to custom post type?
This version should definitely be used instead of rjb's answer! Thank you bhammie85!

comment Drag n Drop Post Order for multiple Custom Post Types
I agree. People tend to use multiple custom post types when what they're trying to achieve would be a lot easier to achvieve by using custom taxonomies.

comment /blog/ permalink prefix causes category pages to 404
Again: have you tried disabling all plugins and switched to default wp theme?

Oh wait. One fast question. You DO have posts in that category (news)? Archive pages for categories and tags only exist if there are posts tagged into that taxonomy. Just checking before going deeper.

Have you already done the basic debug steps (deactivating all plugins, changing theme to default, etc.)? I tried to reproduce your problem with setup I think you have (custom structure /blog/%postname%/ - category base left empty - page named blog as the posts page) and permalink structure works just fine for categories, posts and all.

comment How do I translate string inside jQuery script with WPML?
Glad to help. As this was just a quick and ugly way to do this, you might want to try wp_localize_script as JMau pointed out.

Get the lang attribute value with jQuery .attr, store it as a variable and do a simple if else statement to output different href for different values. You could also output the href with php from stored custom field etc. or use icl_language_code to output different static values for different languages. But to keep it simple, just get lang value from html and go with that.

If you want to keep on using this static way for writing your url's, you could sniff the lang attribute value of html-element and output a different url for different lang values. But why are you writing href's with jquery in the first place? It seems a bit funny.

comment Prevent WordPress from cropping GIF files
Okay. I see your point. I am just wondering if there is really a need to achieve this other than that. Gif files take minimal space on server, so I wouldn't waste a lot of time to achieve something that doesn't really effect the server nor your site. I will get back to you if I actually have an answer to your original question.

Wordpress creates different sizes of your image, but it doesn't remove the original file. How / where are you using your gif files?

Why not just use the original files in your theme/posts and not the thumbnails?

For beginner the easiest way to create custom fields for post types is ACF -plugin advancedcustomfields.com If you need to create custom post types I would recommend Types -plugin that actually has custom field builder too (not as neat as ACF though) wordpress.org/plugins/types
