Those one-liners have the severe disadvantage that if users want to issue remove_action, they can't, because there is no hooked function that can be removed.

Thanks Zack. The admin_head-edit.php is a hook called at the header so if you reference global $post you end up with the id of the first post. It would have been easy and intuitive to do it in a similar way: having a hook that executes for each post row. What I'm trying now is an AJAX get request to a php where the custom field values are returned. We'll see what happens. Thanks again!
