comment Custom Post Type: Search Results - Template for no results
The only other thing I can think is that whatever mechanism is submitting the search isn't passing the search term properly to trigger a search query. To trigger the search query, the search form (whatever that is) should direct to your home url, using the get method, and the search term field has to have name="s" as an attribute.

It shouldn't matter where the search was initiated if your concern is how to display the results. The search results are displayed using the search.php template if it exists, and if not, index.php.

comment Using variable in two functions
+1 for distinction between state and behavior. I'd still want to encapsulate the instantiation somehow, instead of letting it hang out as a global object. Finding a good way to do that in the WP spaghetti-and-meatballs environment, though, is not always easy.

comment How to reduce original image quality on upload?
We'd prefer that answers give a substantive code-based solution to the question rather than simply refer to a plugin. That way we can all learn to write better code. This is about WP Development. The question asks if you know of a filter or function, not a plugin.

Appreciate the attempt. But can you address the question: "Does WordPress protects against code written within a post? What could be the root of the problem?" If you can say how to restrict code in posts, then you'll have a good answer here. :)

This question is off-topic, as it relates to a plugin and the question is about your mailserver, not WordPress. Suggest you file a ticket with gravityforms.

Seems like what your customer wants is related to user roles. I'd say start by googling "WordPress user roles" and see if it gets you close to what you need.

comment WooCommerce Shipping
The problem is not with this function, but with the circumstances in which the bespoke code calls it. In other words, the bug is that when the postcode is updated, this function is not being called to recalculate the distance. But that is a question for whoever developed your bespoke code.

comment How to do_action and get a return value?
Thanks, @TimMalone. I do appreciate @mark-kaplun 's objection. My answer describes how to work around do_action() not returning a value rather than how to design a solution in congruence with do_action()s intent. If someone is able to do what he's asking, that answer deserves to be the accepted answer. My first thought would be to have the hooked method (assuming the OP is using an OOP design for this plugin) drop it's result into a protected property of the plugin class and then write a quick getter to pull it out at some later point. But that's just a wild hair of an idea!
