@One Trick Pony, I was surprised to see that, too. I was looking for a plain vanilla php function and WP had one.

No display of an email address - either plain text or encoded - in between the mailto: link and the ?subject=Webmail text.

Exactly; I only want to use antispambot on $curauth->publicemail, i.e. antispambot($curauth->publicemail) which doesn't work.

Using find/replace with a text editor in a text dump doesn't work; it breaks serialzed data.

comment Whenever I try to publish a post in wordpress, I always get redirected to the installation page…why?
They must have increased your hosting accounts php memory allocation, not your database size. Sounds like WP was running out of RAM.

Thanks for this extensive answer, and this should work fine on a VPS or other machine where one has access to vhosts, but I'm on a good - but shared - system.

Read what I wrote and the WP docs: "up one directory level..." That's one level above /wp-includes/. That's what works right now. If I moved wp-config.php into wp-admin or another folder, it wouldn't work.

You create the APP in the account you want to access with the plugin and want to "Like", not your own. Follow the instructions that the plugin itself will give you.

If this is a crosspost with the same question on serverfault, reference any help from there. And if this isn't for WordPress, is belongs on serverfault or stackoverfow.

comment How to check an array of $curauth fields?
Thanks, that works. I already call the $curauth variable. I wasn't formatting the array the right way. But the code can be simplified a little as noted in my update to my question.

Your edit works better, but as per Otto above, it needs the !empty operator, i.e. : <?php if ( !empty( $curauth->twitter ) ) { echo '<a href=" ' . $curauth->twitter . '"><img src="' . get_bloginfo('template_url') . '/images/twitter.png"></a>'; } ?>
