comment title tag for custom post type remove taxonomy name from title tag
hmm, the best/only solution in can come up with at the moment is something like using this filter add_filter( 'wp_title', 'custom_title', 20 ); but it strikes me as odd that it gets inserted into the title tag to start off with if "normal" post categories don't behave that way

comment title tag for custom post type remove taxonomy name from title tag
Hi, thanks for taking the time. Generally speaking though, it's not a url/slug problem (the slug can be set dynamically to whatever) its a title TAG problem between <head> and </head> where it uses the taxonomy general name

thanks for all your input Seamus. I will sleep on that one (way too late here to do anything about that one at the moment). Generally speaking though I prefer to change things as early as possible rather than writing a function that does stuff on top of another function. Either way, you certainly gave me some ideas (and clarified things). Much appreciated

another question (sorry): when you are saying "modify the output" do you mean changing the "walker" ?

thanks for the input. makes sense i guess. So would I be right in thinking then, that it would be reasonably elegant to just set the post status to "draft" for example for the items that are supposed to be "hidden" ? (or maybe a cronjob of some sort that does the same thing ?)

well, blimey. someone came up with a (possible) answer 4 months later :) thanks for the idea, although I have to say that - in the meantime - i did this in an entirely different way, so cant really comment whether this works or not. thanks anyway

one more thing though (just want to make sure this is right as it does seem to do that): if I do NOT call ` add_action('alter_loop', array( $this, 'alter_loop_meta'),10,1); ` anywhere (i.e in the costruct) , it just returns the original $meta value (without any notices / errors such ass "alter_loop" doesnt exist or some such thing ??

ok then. i accept that as answer/explanation . i was hoping to be able to kind of glue them together without additional hooks, but after all it appears i can't do that. either way, thanks for your time clarifying things
