comment How to give capability (publish contributors posts) to author role?
This turned out to be some comprehensive answers to a relatively poor question that has been asked (in way better form) numerous times. ;)

@cybmeta While it is true that 'author' is not a capability, you can still add a role for the $capability parameter. Glad you shared an improvement to this solution, but not entirely certain if it was necessary to downvote the otherwise correct answer.

comment Menu items (all menus) being deleted randomly on their own
I should highlight that we have a similar problem on our site where images disappears completely without anyone touching anything. We may have finally found the cause of it all, although not yet confirmed. Check which WP cron jobs that are running and disable any that may affect the new content. I will make a post about our own issue in the coming days.

comment Get Permalink without domain (i.e. get relative permalink)
@TomJNowell If I am not mistaken, $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] will give you the current URL, which may be a problem if it is a paginated post, meaning that /test/page/2 will be grabbed while using get_permalink() would be the solution for this issue. Am I making sense?

comment How do I delete all UNUSED images from my uploads directory?
I've wanted to do the same thing, but what worries me are how to define unused. For example, an author may have uploaded images to a draft post, and then created another draft post, pasted the content, and that post is published. This will mean that the images are assigned to the draft post, not the published post. Maybe a script that looks through all posts and checks the image URLs to see which images have been used and not. Hopefully we have a good answer.

comment Is there a plugin for posting inline comments, like in MS Word?
That is, in every possible way, brilliant! How about performance? Does this plugin perform well when considering server performances? Is it running many more queries than because each paragraph has its on comment area etc?

comment Is there a plugin for messaging users as an admin?
@userabuser I am not sure if it would be a good idea to post the solution online as it would display the security issue for anyone who would like to take advantage of it. What do you think?

comment Adding rel=“nofollow” to external links in posts?
If we are going to plugin recommendations here, I suggest using this: wordpress.org/support/plugin/nofollow-for-external-link The source code is simple, direct and doesn't add loads of unnecessary features.

Outstanding. And you are absolutely right, the value is the same regardless of post status.

@s_ha_dum I completely agree, but I am looking at all options, which aren't many in this scenario ;)
