I am what I am if I was what I was when I were what I were.

I suggest that you ask for a jQuery solution over at stackoverflow instead because this is not a WordPress specific answer and I doubt you will receive a response here. I would still give another chance on google with this because it is a very commonly requested feature so there should be a lot of code available. =)

Look into "WP Cron", it runs on set intervals. You create a function that checks the share counts, stores them via update_post_meta() and you use this value to display the share count locally rather than requesting external files on every page load. Although I am not sure if this is the approach you should take. Personally, I would do all of this via jQuery, this way, you let all the action to happen on the client side, which it should be with this type of thing.

The reason why it is slowing down your page is because you are requesting data from 4 different sites. So all of those needs to be loaded before your script continues to process. This is bad. Add a cron that does this for you, or cache the page. Don't load this on every page load.

comment Showing all data when no metadatafilter is active
Ok, I understand the question. When no filter option have been selected for the displaying of posts, then you want to display all posts? Basically, check which $_GET values are being passed. If empty, then loop through all posts. (just example...) It makes sense and I could probably code it for you (I actually coded a filter like that just recently)... the problem is that I have absolutely no idea how your current code looks like because you have not posted any of it, which makes this essentially a riddle game. Don't waste 100 points and edit your question properly.

comment How to List only the users created by a particular user
I could swear that I saw this being answered just the other day here. Please perform a quick search and see if you find anything. Or someone else may know which entry I refer to... EDIT: No, slightly different: wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/188863/…

Ask your server provided to look into this, very likely something going on that is putting some weight on your performance.

comment wp-login.php — redirect logged in users to custom URL
Ah unfortunately, it appears this solution is preventing logout. Try clicking on default logout link on admin-bar or one generated with wp_logout_url() -- any way to escape if user is trying to logout?

comment wp-login.php — redirect logged in users to custom URL
Very interesting approach, thank you for the answer. Although, when considering performance, is there any way to achieve this by hooking into something that only runs when user visits the wp-login.php page?

comment Cannot redeclare maybe_create_table()
@s_ha_dum Thanks for the info. For the record, I am not seeing this error anymore, although since yesterday, I did not do anything to solve it. We will keep this question alive here though given that there have been and will be more users with this issue who will find their way here.

@FrederikSpang Latest version: 4.2.1 -- it is very strange, given that if you google this error, you will see that many people have come across it but there have never been any actual info about why and how...

@FrederikSpang Are you asking me to compare my local upgrade.php with a fresh install version? It is identical, I just checked.

comment Cannot redeclare maybe_create_table()
@s_ha_dum Can you please explain in which instances this could happen? How can I debug this and find the cause? This is a sandbox install. I deactivated all plugins and used one of the Twenty* themes. The error is still present whenever I activate a plugin. There are of course deactivated plugins there and one custom theme which is not active. Not that this would be a problem but thought I would mention.

comment How to convert jQuery plugin to a Wordpress plugin?
Read up on how to enqueue scripts. Once you understand it, it is no different to adding a jQuery script to none-WP powered page. There are tons of tutorials.

This is lovely. Just for completion, we need to kill the margin added to the left when screensize is smaller. So in the CSS part, just add: .auto-fold #wpcontent, .auto-fold #wpfooter {margin-left: 0;}
