By day I am a financial analyst in London who uses VBA/MS-Access/MS-Excel and sometimes php to build financial models and portfolio valuation, trading and risk management tools. In addition I build web apps for corporate and public use mostly using Laravel/PHP and databases such as MySQL.

I also design ordinary websites too from time-to-time where I use html, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery and WordPress.

comment Removing the redirect after changing a page's slug
Indeed, your comment was the solution. I have a page called Events which had the slug events-page. No page had the slug events but when visiting example.com/events it redirected to the Events page. WP was obviously matching the slug to a page with the same title as nothing else existed for it.

comment Problem updating from 3.6 to 3.7
Turns out it was some sort of server issue. I increased the execution timeout on my vhost's nginx config file and it fixed it. The strange thing is is that when it worked the update completed almost instantly. It didn't take any where near even the original timeout limit.
