Dave Hunt is the founder of Hunt Software, an Ottawa-based consulting company that specializes in planning custom web applications and content management systems. Dave helps clients envision the big picture when designing custom applications to ensure products are robust, scalable and built to last. He works with clients to define product scope and creates iterative development roadmaps that outline the minimum viable product through to full-scale solution. He helps clients to understand and define future opportunities in the early development stages so that information architecture is tailored to the unique business requirements. Before founding Hunt Software, Dave was a principle managing partner at OAK Computing, which he helped to grow into a million dollar web services company. At OAK Dave acquired industry insight and experience in developing custom web applications and content management systems for clients ranging from large-scale public institutions to small businesses and start-ups.

Dave is a WordPress expert and general IT guru. He is adept in front-end development, back-end development, database management, information architecture, server administration, and network design and engineering. He is also a WordPress mentor at Ladies Learning Code, and was recognized as a Rising Star in Ottawa during the 2012 Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Dave started building websites at the age of 12. He sold his first web venture at 18 before completing a Bachelor of Information Technology degree at Carleton University.

As long as the variables are properly escaped and filtered, there's no reason not to use this method, as it is the simplest way in PHP to handle a form that filters content. I've used similar solutions for filtering content in Wordpress. You can also declare new variables in the "query_vars" and use that instead, Wordpress has information in its codex: codex.wordpress.org/Custom_Queries#Custom_Archives

The index.php is often used as a fallback, as it is the last template in the hierarchy for all of the Wordpress views.
