auth_redirect fired earlier, not more. You can also use init or plugins_loaded; maybe is more in the context.

comment Wordpress Multisite: Have the same header and footer of main-blog on all sub-blogs
If don't change the footer.php inside the child theme, then will use the sub blogs always the default footer from the parent theme, with all content. But if you have dynamicly content, like wp_nav_menu() inside the footer.php, then is it important, that you add a footer.php, there get the option from the network, like get_option('network_menu');.

comment add_action before theme setup
If you want to be sure, than trigger the same hook with different priority, like slider via priority 10 on after_setup_theme and render slider via priority 11 on after_setup_theme.

comment Content not shown on some older browsers and mobile devices (SGS3)
If I debug this in Safari with the Web Inspector I found a problem with the stylesheet. The class content-area hafe a float, confused to the other table-statements. If I clear table and floats, it works.

But the safari have also the Web Inspector inside, but you must active at first -> Preferences --> Advanced, Active the Checkbox on "Show Develop menu in tool bar". Now you can use the Web Inspector.

Hm, Maybe you have a js problem, that a class or inline style, there hide this content? I think is not a font problem, after I read your enhancements on the question. But I can not test on different clients, works always.
