Yes, but you have also the chance to check all values, there not start with _. The values in meta_key, there start with _ is from plugins or theme and not visible in the custom fields.

Do you will change stylesheet via backend, then it is important that you update your style via lessphp. But on the default editor of WP is it not possibel to edit files in subdirectories.

The image is a part of the description tag in the xml and only usable via regex, not great and not performant. Also is this a way to change the content; not realy usefull for the authors of feeds.

On which hook do you include the class of your plugin? The best way is plugins_loaded. maybe you create a new instance via new Your_Class and this is to early for the class WP_Widget.
