comment APC object caching in combination Batcache/memcached page caching?
Thanks for you input Wyck. I've added some more info about my setup. I'll have multiple single WordPress sites on virtual servers served by a single nginx instance. That is why I'm thinking of combining apc and memcached backends for different caching (bytecode and fullpage, the exact terms and their function is still a bit cloudy to me). It's unclear to me how to set that up. From your writing and from reading elsewhere that seems to be an option, but I can't find any configuration examples of it.

comment spaces inside parenthesis
Although some of the reasons given aren't useful for me, they make sense and I can see how it may be useful to others. What's strange to me is that I haven't seen it used much at all in other programming languages. Maybe it's just one of those conventions that each language seems to have.

comment WooCommerce: Change default country on the cart page
This is not an answer, but I've come to realise that the country chosen in the calculator has no bearing on the final shipping price. When using PayPal Express Checkout the shipping price is actually calculated on the shipping country returned from PayPal (which is the same as the billing country if a different shipping address is not entered). This make the matter quite a bit less pressing for us.

comment When should add_rewrite_tag() be used?
Thanks for this. One thing that I understand from your answer is that add_rewrite_tag() can be used for making placeholders to be used in Settings->Permalinks. About using a taxonomy, is it a requirement for using add_rewrite_tag()? My impression from the Codex page is that it's not, but it seems commonly used. I expanded my question with regard to using add_rewrite_tag() in conjunction with add_rewrite_rule() as suggested in the Codex page.

Thank you. That fixed both the title and suppressed the notices, like you said. I modified it slightly to check is_tag instead of is_tax, and learned a lot in the process.

I read in this comment in a related ticket that a filter can be used to rebuild the title but the commenter doesn't elaborate. I've never created a filter myself. Any idea how to do this?
