comment How can I prevent a writer from being able to edit an article that has been scheduled?
Yeah, your solution works much better than mine, as it also disables the links to the posts to be edited. Very nice going just removing the capabilities in this special call to edit a post. Perfect @G.M.!

comment Best pratice to make taxonomy terms translatable without changing slugs?
How did you set up your translatable site in the first place? The answer depends very much on your general site structure.

comment Why are simple updates to wp_postmeta's “_edit_lock” so slow?
Does it also take a huge amount of time when you just SELECT this entry? Like SELECT * FROM wp_postmeta` WHERE post_id = 94705 AND meta_key = '_edit_lock';`?

comment Rolling Back from current WordPress version to previous one
As I do not know the exact answer to this, a trial and error approach would be okay for you if you can afford some 10 minutes of downtime. Backup your whole installation and Database, and just overwrite the files. If everything works out - nice, if not - restore the old version. This is not a very sophisticated way to approach your situation. You can also duplicate your setup, and try it there.

What post_status do the posts have, after they were scheduled? Are they future?

comment How to use scripts when header/footer are stripped out
Wow, that's tough. You would have to rewrite the method that prints the scripts to output the metatags... Anyway, you have to compromize a lot here. You will have to work on a solution together with the dev team. On the WordPress side, we can help you achieve your goal, but you will have to ask specific questions, when you know how you want things to be done on your side. That's all I can help with the information provided :-/ hope you get it running!

Yeah, the environment is not perfect. But I think the best you can do is to use wp_head and wp_footer to ensure future plugin compatibility, as most plugins rely on the call of these two functions, not an actual HTML-Header being sent out. You have to be very careful tough and test everything a lot.

comment Use Pages for Custom Post Type
You are confusing two things - tha capability_type defines who has the right to edit/create this post type, and has nothing to do with being a post or a page.

None that I know about, if you do not want to use the htaccess. But if you know one, I am keen to learn!

The best way to do this would be in your .htaccess, are you sure you want to do this with a Plugin?

Can you show some more code and Debug information? It is impossible to answer the question without it.

What do you mean by "But in the source code the script is shown."? Does jQuery get delivered?
