How to know which one is the main query? nope. Still didn't do it for me. Obviously the query that I was changing with pre_get_posts wasn't the main query. But then that still leaves the question. If that wasn't the main query, which one is? The loop is the standard loop. I didn't use query_posts, get_posts or wp_query. Rather the_loop does but why is that loop not the main query? Not sure I am explaining myself correctly. I don't like those little slide shows you linked to. They usually leave a lot of information. Like they are cliff notes that someone wrote up for a speech. If you miss the speech you can't follow along very well. |

get_permalink vs the_permalink I see. Thank you. I think I got it sorted. checking the source was a good idea. I see lots of stuff in there to play with |

get_permalink vs the_permalink I tried post_link and got a bunch of errors. I change the filter above from the_permalink to post_link and got these errors: fatal error: Maximum function nesting level of '100' reached, aborting! |

Shortcode content is empty There is no other shortcode. That is the code word for word in my functions.php file. it's doing the shortcode but none of the content. none of the arguments are working. |

Shortcode content is empty this is what I get when I view source <a class="tickets_btn" href="#"></a>. I don't know what you mean "Your output cannot be a result of your shortcode href comes after class" Why does that matter? |

Shortcode content is empty I think I remember something about hyphens killing the shortcode. I thought this would work but I tried it and still it's not working. It doesn't seem to be accepting the arguments either. I put in link like so link="address" and it shows the # sign in the url. |

undefined index maybe I am missing something. I thought it was created and then set with the input fields above that line. What is missing? |

default menu help it's interesting to see that this question got closed for not being a real question or for being vague. If it wasn't a real question, how was I able to solve it? I know this solution will be helpful to others |
