I personally don't care much if I sell the theme to A, and A sells it to B (both under the GPL). I got paid for my work, I "got" WordPress and made my theme because of what the GPL stands for. If a person B is to sell it under GPL it is only fair... As far as I care. Point of my question was all the hustle of making all of my code "public", and apparently I don't need to do this, I only need to publish it to the buyer under the GPL.
