comment WPDB - How to search a column in a table
Are you trying to retrieve the whole column? Or just the value in that column (including whether or not it exists) for a specific given row?

comment PHP if have image display image, if else text
Right on the money, but I would recommend changing the line <? echo '<img class=\"logo"\ src="'.$novus_logo_upload.'" width=\"100%"\ />'; ?> to <img class="logo" src="<?php echo $novus_logo_upload; ?>" width="100%" /> Echoing markup is bad, mkay?

The question specifically stated "custom taxonomy with a numeric term value." Added a demonstration of using 'meta_value_num'.

comment Custom post type conditional in loop
So is 'foo_post_type' a custom taxonomy attached to your custom post type? It's hard to tell from your heavily abstracted code.

comment why do HTML Comments in the WYSIWYG break the page display?
Well, technically, that other question is a duplicate of this one... I beat them to it by a few months. But let's not split hairs. Thanks for the answer!

No, that's for getting users BY their meta data values. What you want is to get meta data BY user. I have set up a quick test of this and it IS working... Missed your edit — glad it works for you. It's actually doing the same thing as the $user->get() option, except your function does not require a WP_User object (which you already had), simply a user ID.

Check out my edit — it should do what you need it to.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding — what content has the custom field in question? Is there an "Author" custom post type? Or is "Author Status" associated with the post?
