Custom Post Type URL doesn't work anymore I did update the Permalinks but at the time it didn't work. Following your advice I thought about changing the permalink structure and apparently that worked. Then I switched back the permalinks to the original setting and everything works fine. Now, I'll try to include my custom taxonomy again (which is named parentalcontrol - unique name so that it doesn't interfere with anything else). |

Pre-install widgets in WP-Admin Excellent explanation, thanks Tom! Actually, I'm not trying to force the users to keep my 'default widgets', I just want to give them a good start. I already have defined in different sidebars.php so they appear after the theme activation and can be easily overwritten by the user in admin. But for users that are not very technical and for widgets with lots of options (sliders, image galleries) I would prefer to already have a 'default widget' in place for the users to modify. |

How can I randomize a Nextgen Gallery Slideshow Yes, it should work like that. If not, you can also use the shortcode in the template file using the do_shortcode function like this: <?php echo do_shortcode('[random max="7" template="filename" id="1" /]'); ?> |

posts_nav_link() not working on index.php That's exactly what I did but I still see the posts from the category with ID 41. |

posts_nav_link() not working on index.php Thanks, do I need to call the add_action( 'pre_get_posts', 'wpse61695_exclude_cat' ); somewhere in my index.php? I'm asking this because the posts from category ID 41 are still showing up on my homepage. |

posts_nav_link() not working on index.php OK, I'll try to do it with pre_get_post - now reading about how to implement it. Thanks! |

posts_nav_link() not working on index.php Thanks for the answer amit. I've added the get_query_var( 'page' ) to the wp_query but it's still not working. I've also tried it without the cat=-41 but I got the same behavior. |
