comment Autoloading a PHP class – working outside, but not inside WordPress plugin
@MarkKaplun What exactly do you mean? The code above is just a simplified example, but somewhere greeter (or any other class) has to be instantiated? Anyway: I think WordPress has something to do with it, because the same structure works outside of it. All files are at the correct place. Probably because other things are loaded before the plugins load, or something like that.

comment When a user registers, create a page from an existing template with their username as the page name
Without knowing what you want to do exactly: I am not sure if this is what WordPress is made for. If you want to stick to WordPress, then I actually wouldn't create a real page for every user. Instead, maybe look into creating a template that dynamically displays the user name/data. I might be able to answer your question, but please add some more background info.

comment Best way to redirect site in subdirectory to root?
That should go into the .htaccess file in the root, RewriteBase /. I am not sure how to test for mod_rewrite – as longs as it's installed and there is RewriteEngine on before any rewrite statements, it should work. If there is something really wrong, you'll get an Internal Server Error 500.

I am not sure if this is 100% right (probably not), but something along the lines of RewriteRule ^site/ /$1 [R=301,NC,L] in your .htaccess should work. All requests containing site/ will be redirected to the same URL without site in it – permanently, without considering case and without following any other rules after that.

Do you plan to keep the permalink structure that way? Are you only moving WordPress or also hosts – do you stick with Apache?

Not really related to the question: By using subdomains for every part of your skillset, you're loosing much SEO power, maybe even compete agains yourself. I wouldn't do that - use one domain that communicates your skills through speaking URLs.

comment Wordpress database error - Error in SQL syntax - I can't identify any error?
While that is completely true, I wasn't able to know that before getting an answer. It also could have been that there are Wordpress functions that handle the task of my function, for example.

Ah that makes sense, of course I only need to prepare user input. Another thing I just noticed is the importance of double quotes. Thank you for your help!

Thanks for your answer, I think I just understood a major principle of Wordpress. Basically its one big passing around of variables and sometimes the name of them just changes, right? Because $info is just another name for $output? Also what exactly happens in the filter named 'bloginfo_url'? I tried to find it in the core, but its not there. Is it just a name?

comment saving/reading custom field value does not work - no value gets POSTed
@brasofilo Do you mean security wise? Or because I have that code in my functions.php?

comment saving/reading custom field value does not work - no value gets POSTed
Ah ok thank you. But then it's a defined behavior by Wordpress to pass that information to the function in the callback, independent from the variable name?

Thank you, now it works! But one question: I haven't defined $post_id anywhere. So I guess this variable is always available when a post is edited? Also for pages, is it also $post_id? I haven't found anything in the Codex, maybe there is a more general term for it?

@s_ha_dum That was actually a typo, sorry! I would love to provide the real URLs as it would make life much easier, but I am afraid its not possible.

@s_ha_dum Well in the root of my server I have an installation. Also in the root is a folder "blog" with another installation. Both installations use different databases. In the control panel of my host I just routed the subdomain "blog.mydomain.com" to the folder "blog".

Hey, I made an edit to my post, maybe you can take a look at it? I don't think it has anything to do with permissions anymore.
