I am very new to word press development. I have set up xampp and successfully installed wordpress on my localhost with my admin account. I need to create a registration for the users to register in my website. I have used various plugins for registration. One of my plugins says a registration was successful and a confirmation mail will be sent.

How can I check or activate to send mail confirmation to check whether it works fine.

Does your local machine have a mail server (not a client) and can it send mail to the outside world? – s_ha_dum May 9 '13 at 14:11
i am using xampp. can you suggest how i can achieve in this – user894795 May 9 '13 at 17:32
No, not really, or I would have attempted an answer. I have toyed with Xampp but I work off of a full-fledged Linux install. I don't know the peculiarities of Xampp. – s_ha_dum May 9 '13 at 17:38
are there any alternatives/plugins to register users without the confirmation mail. – user894795 May 9 '13 at 17:41
Without the email? User are registered whether that email succeeds or not, but can't login, not could they reset a password if need be. You need to get email functioning. It is important. – s_ha_dum May 9 '13 at 17:42
