WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I’ve been trying to find how the menu items are generated by BuddyPress, such that they then appear under the<li id="wp-admin-bar-my-account-*"…>… tags.

I was looking at the bp_adminbar_menus, bp_adminbar_account_menu, the wp_before_admin_bar_render itself. I was able to understand how to tweak the general menu items in the wp-includes/admin-bar.php file, but I could not figure out how to modify (or how to find the origins of) the BuddyPress additional menu which has links to friends, activity, etc.

I can see them in the source code of the web page, for example, id="wp-admin-bar-my-account-friends", but simply can’t locate where those are defined. Basically I am trying to understand how I can modify the admin bar. Thank you for your help.
