I know about http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-email-login/, but it only takes care of login - not registration. I don't want any javascript-based solution. (I'm aware of Register Plus Redux, but it uses Javascript to take care of this.)

I just want to use email-address as username, and I want to see if there's an easy (but non-javascript) way to take care of this.

Curious, why no JavaScript? – montrealist Apr 29 '13 at 1:31
@dalbaeb User could just turn Javascript off (for whatever reason) and would see something that's not meant to be there. – user1831003 Apr 29 '13 at 5:08
Then make your own custom form. – Adi Apr 29 '13 at 6:10
