I love the WP-markdown plugin. Our sysadmin has installed WP-markdown 1.1.6. All works well except for one use case.
I create a post with a URL in it. For example, let's say
The URL text and link are the same (this is important). When I then try to edit using "Edit" on the Wordpress wp-admin web UI, the link comes back as
That would be OK, except that if I then save this change (update the post), the URL is thrown away. I think Wordpress looks and says "that is not a legal HTML tag - I will discard". It is not converted back to HTML first.
The side effect is if I use the Wordpress web site to edit a post to make a minor spelling error, URLs on the page are silently lost.
A workaround is to make the text slightly different to the URL (so it converts to the Markdown square bracket form). The bug appears to happen only if the URL and text shown are identical.
If I edit via a wordpress client coming in via the XML RPC I think everything works OK. So it seems to be specific to the Wordpress web site editing.
Is there an easy fix or config change for this? Thanks!
