I have to move wordpress blog hosted on wordpress.com to self hosted server.

I would like to know if the simple export/import (free one) can export/import the followings

  • tags
  • categories
  • users
  • images in the post

Can I do all these with simple export or I need to use the Guided Transfer option?

Tags, categories and users are not a problem - they'll get exported. About images, you'll be given an option to download them automaticly, but your wordpress.com blog have to be still alive. You can read more on this topic here.

Anyway, try it to your localhost installation and you'll see how the things go ;)
