right now, I am using a plugin that gets updated frequently. I don't like some of the wording that comes with some of the plugins featues (messages that are displayed to the users). So I am trying to change the wording, but I don't want to do it by manually changing the themes source code, because these changes would be lost, as soon as I update the plugin the next time.

Is there a proper way to persistently change certain wording in this plugin without having to change it again, after updating? And if so, what requirements must a plugin meet, to be able to do so? (I actually don't want to use a translation plugin for this, if there's a more simple/elegant way to do this, as I still want to offer my site in one language, only.)

Thanks and regards,
René

What is the plugin? – s_ha_dum Jan 25 at 23:05
Nextend Facebook Connect and the other Nextend * Connect plugins. – René Schubert Jan 25 at 23:07
This is going to be entirely dependent upon how the particular plugin is written. You may not be able to do it at all. – s_ha_dum Jan 26 at 0:14
You could use the old trick of filtering the gettext() calls, since it uses localised text. Look in the plugin source to find the __() calls. – webaware Jan 26 at 1:26
