WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

If you look at my site in the sidebar, you will see that the entry box (where people enter their email) and the submit button are on 2 different lines. I would liek them to be on one line like in the Search widget a few widgets down.

I tried to edit the subscriptions.php file with no success.

Please help! It's such an eye sore!

Get yourself a text-editor or IDE with syntax highlighting - it'll make editing PHP code much more pleasurable. I recommend Notepad++ –  bungeshea Jan 10 '13 at 9:07

Visit Appearance > Edit CSS in your WordPress dashboard and add these lines of CSS code:

.jetpack_subscription_widget p {
    display: inline-block;

.jetpack_subscription_widget input[type="text"] {
    padding: 6px !important;
    width: auto !important;

Preview of subscription widget with CSS applied
