WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am running a wordpress blog (3.4.1) on iis 7.5 with php manager 5.3.13.

I cannot configure correctly the 404 page. I have created a 404 page which can be successfully viewed through /404.php.

When a request for a page that does not exist is submitted, a 403 error message (with status code) is shown instead of my 404.php page.

There're not too many people running WP on IIS and - to be honest - IIS is pretty wired. Have you already searched the iis archive? –  kaiser Oct 4 '12 at 11:46

This is really a Windows IIS question. A 403 error is completely different than a 404. 403's mean there is a permissions, access or security problem with the 404 template file or the way IIS is handing 404's. support.microsoft.com/kb/943891 –  songdogtech Oct 4 '12 at 13:00
