I am having some weird issues when trying to install a theme. If I upload via FTP, the theme does not show in the Appearance --> Themes menu. If I install the theme using Appearance --> Themes --> Uploads, and upload it as a zip, it will allow me to use the theme perfectly fine. However, it does not show in wp-content/themes. Where else could the theme directory be? And what could be causing this?

You are obviously in the wrong directory when you take the FTP route. – toscho Sep 29 '12 at 3:05
It's pretty much a vanilla WordPress install, and it is not in root/wp-content/themes, or anywhere else that I can find. – Ryan Sep 29 '12 at 16:33
Download and install dl.dropbox.com/u/9120607/where-are-my-themes.zip per admin upload. Click Customize and see the full path. – toscho Sep 29 '12 at 17:12
@toscho - Thanks for that. It would appear that the issue is with my host. I have this setup on a staging site, so it looks like the wp-content folder is not where it usually is. – Ryan Oct 3 '12 at 20:16
