WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm building a resume website and I would like to manage the data in custom fields.

For examples I would have multiple meta boxes: Education, Work and Competencies

In Work I can have multiple positions which hold the following data

  • Title (text)
  • Company (text)
  • Start Year (text)
  • End Year (text)
  • Description (WYSIWYG)

Here's the catch, I want to have an "Add position" button which allows me to dynamically add positions to my page.

Any guidance as to how this can be achieved would be welcomed.

This sounds like a perfect use-case for Advanced Custom Fields and the Flexible Content addon. The Flexible content field acts as a blank canvas to which you can add an unlimited number of layouts with full control over the order. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Seems like a great plugin and I will definitely consider it for future developments. However, this being a personal site, I'm looking for free alternatives (mostly because I want to learn the development technique.) –  Sebastien Aug 17 '12 at 11:16
